Feature Staircase – Hugo Boss

ACP Engineering (Wrexham) Ltd has recently completed work on the fit out of Chester’s brand new Hugo Boss store. For this project ACP was given the task of designing, constructing and fitting a new feature staircase.

This was a challenging project for ACP as the existing staircase and lift shaft had to be stripped out in order to begin fitting the new feature staircase, in a confined space.

Seamless by Design

The staircase is set on a mild steel frame and the glass balustrades are made from 19mm toughened glass which was bonded into the stringer negating the need for stations. To ensure the staircase looked as seamless as possible, it was designed so that there are no bolts showing.

The staircase was then finished off with a beautiful solid walnut handrail and tiled in specially imported Italian porcelain tiles as specified by Hugo Boss.

Attention To Detail

Attention to detail was imperative on this project and it was the responsibility of ACP Engineering to measure up and carry out structural calculations as well as produce design drawings. The Hugo Boss brand is a stylish and contemporary one and the feature staircase was designed to represent this.

Listed Building

As with many buildings in the historical city of Chester, the Hugo Boss store is located in a listed building therefore ACP had to work closely with the local authority in order to ensure the staircase was in keeping with the building's listed criteria.

All in all this project took over 12 months from conception to completion due to various issues including the sale of the Grosvenor Precinct in Chester. However, it is one that ACP Engineering (Wrexham) Ltd is extremely proud to be associated with.
