Bespoke Architectural Steelwork - Fin Wall

This project was undoubtedly one of the most challenging to date. The brief was to produce an Architectural Fin Wall to be erected in-between two commercial premises on a business park at Hunts Cross, Liverpool..

Team Work

The local planning department had insisted on having such a feature as a condition of being granted planning permission for the site and it meant ACP Engineering had to work with the Architects and Structural Engineers assigned to the project to come up with a workable solution.

The end result was a galvanised & powder coated 6.5M wide by 10M high Fin Wall structure which weighed 6.5 tonne.

Logistics & Access Problems

Due to the sheer size of the Fin wall, it had to be transported in sections and then put together on site, in the car park. Due to access restrictions, a 40 tonne crane was needed to lift it over the buildings and into place. A jig was built to stop the structure distorting whilst carrying out this maneouvre.

A Successful Finish

The end result was a formidable piece of custom built and designed architectural steel work which involved a lot of project management, team work and co-ordination between different sub-contractors and skill sets.
