Project: Refurbishment of Concert Hall
This project has been a very challenging and interesting job for ACP. It was different from most jobs we have undertaken and it tested all our departments' resources.
Work undertaken:
- Structural supports
- Access ladder
- Mesh flooring & supports
- Fire escape
- Cat ladders
- Design & CAD drawings
- Restricted access crane hire
- Bronze handrail
- Health & Safety
Length of Contract: 3 months
Project Value to ACP: £80K
The main job was to erect a fire escape going down the roof of the concert hall which met a platform and then 4 sets of cat ladders & platforms.
We had to design brackets to go through the roof to support the stair, produce productions drawings for all the work carried out and design support steel work for the lifting equipment.
Logistics
The Royal College of Music is opposite the Royal Albert Hall in Kensington, West London . As you can imagine, delivery had to be during a strict timetable. Access was extremely poor and everything had to be built in kit form to enable men to carry everything into position.
H&S
Most of the work done was at height and steels were heavy. The correct use of lifting equipment was paramount. Our men had to work to strict H&S guidelines to avoid injury.
